Turkish cuisine boasts of a wide variety of desserts of all kind and taste. One of the most popular are fruits and vegetables soaked with syrup. İncir Tatlısı is a typical fig sweet made of dried figs stuffed with walnuts or other nuts. Figs are poached in simmering water for half an hour, then stuffed with walnuts, and poured over with syrup made of sugar dissolved in lemon juice. Other variations of İncir Tatlısı are baked in the oven. The dessert goes well at any time of the day, and at any temperature: hot, warm or cold and is usually served with whipped cream or garnished with walnut crumbles.
