Şekerpare translated as "sugar money", is one of the most delicious Turkish desserts. It is special for its tender extra sweet taste and should also be smooth when it is melting in one's mouth. Turks are famous for their sweet tooth, and Istanbul does not skimp on very sweet cookies, such as Şekerpare. This is a type of cookies soaked with syrup, and garnished with whole nuts. The homemade Şekerpare is as tasty as one sold in special pastry shops, and has flour, semolina, sugar, egg, butter, baking powder, hazelnut and syrup as classical ingredients. All the ingredients should be at room temperature. The cooked cookies are poured over with cold syrup. It is important that the contrast between the hot cookies and the cold syrup exists, or vice versa.
