Biksemad is a traditional Danish dish that used to be the food that danish merchant sailors cooked when came off night watch. It is a hodgepodge of food similar to bubble and squeak. Traditionally consisting of potatoes, onions, and any kinds of meat or sausage, diced and then pan fried, it is often served with a fried egg, pickled diced beetroot, sour pickled gherkin, and capers. The dish was originally made from leftovers of past meals. Frozen biksemad of many varieties can be bought in almost every supermarket.
