Biscottini alla Milano (Milanese Cookies) is a traditional sweet dessert from Milan consisting of eggs, flour, sugar, grated lemon peel and butter. The preparation is as easy and simple as the list of ingredients, the eggs are beaten with sugar till foamy, then lemon peel and flour are added, and the whole mass is gently mixed. The mixture is poured on a buttered and floured baking tray, let stand for an hour and then cooked for some half an hour or until golden brown. These biscuits can have various forms, most popular being flower, star or simply round form. They are just perfect with tea, coffee or to be presented as small gifts on special occasions such as Christmas and birthdays.
