Bramborová polévka (potato soup) is a kind of traditional Czech dish and the most delicious from all Czech soups. The recipe includes potatoes and root vegetables - usually carrots, celery, parsley and herbs. One of the most important ingredients of this soup are the fresh mushrooms (sometimes with forest mushrooms), but it can also be prepared from dried mushrooms. Traditional Czech potato soup has a thick, creamy consistency and must always contain new potatoes. The soup has numerous regional or family versions. It can be flavored with oregano, garlic, black pepper or caraway seeds, to which this delicacy owes its consistency and unusual aroma.
