Bruine Bonen Soep, or brown bean soup, is a traditional Dutch soup, usually savored in the cozy environment of the family during cold winter days. It represents a richly flavored soup which basic ingredients are brown beans. Other ingredients of this dish include smoked bacon, butter, grounds of paprika, diced carrot, chopped shallots, ring-sliced leek and ground paprika.

When being served, the bruine bonen soep is not very smooth. The dish has to preserve a certain texture so that the celery leaves could remain perfectly arranged on top. This soup is usually classified as a main dish in the Dutch cuisine, it being often eaten with bread.
