Citroenpunch is a popular dish in the Netherlands. The drink is made with sugar, lemon peel, water, lemon juice, and rum, arak or cognac. The preparation is not complicated: a combination of water and lemon peel is brought to a boil, then sugar is added and the mixture is boiled until it becomes syrupy. The syrup is put through a sieve and the rum, arak or cognac is added. Optionally, a slice of lemon can be added too.
