Coltunasi are a kind of stuffed dumpling associated with Romanian and Moldavian cuisine. Variants are also found in Ukranian, Mennonite, Belorussian, Russian, Lithuanian, and Polish cooking. Coltunasi are triangular-shaped dumplings of unleavened dough, stuffed with fresh white cheese (colţunaşi cu brînză), meat (colţunaşi cu carne), potatoes (colţunaşi cu cartofi) and cherries. During preparation, the filling is wrapped with dough, boiled for several minutes, and then covered with butter or cooking oil.
Coltunasi are served hot with sour cream.
