Doner Durum 06.jpg

Döner Dürüm is a popular Turkish fast food prepared from sliced Döner (lamb or chicken meat cooked on a vertical spit) and vegetables wrapped in freshly baked lavash. The vegetables used for its preparation usually are: tomatoes, salad, carrot, and onion. This dish is very popular in Istanbul, as it is a good quick dinner to stay one's hunger. In Istanbul it is usually eaten with tomato sauce and ayran or atom (a Turkish fresh vegetable juice). One of the variations of Döner Dürüm is Kaşarlı dürüm döner, that is a specialty of Istanbul; grated kaşar cheese is put in the wrap which is then toasted to melt the cheese and crisp up the Lavash.
