Durian ice cream
Durian ice cream (Es durian ) is a popular dessert in Singapore and other Asian countries, sold at street side stalls. The durian is a sweet fruit with thick texture, widely known and revered in southeast Asia as the "king of fruits", being also distinctive for its large size, unique odour, and formidable thorn-covered husk. The unusual flavour and odour of the fruit have prompted many people to express diverse and passionate views ranging from deep appreciation to intense disgust. But the Durian Ice Cream is really worth trying.
To prepare durian ice cream, the seeds are removed and the flesh is blended well into paste. Then the paste is pressed through a fine sieve. In a separate bowl eggs, sugar and vanilla are mixed, then poured into near boiling milk and cream stirring well. Chilled custard and durian paste are also added, stirring thoroughly, then put into refrigerator. It is not recommended to mix durian with other fruits as its distinctive flavour predominates.
