Dutch apple salad
Dutch apple salad is a savory dish from the Netherlands and it is mostly preferred as breakfast food, side dish or a day snack. It is particularly popular during autumn when apples are ripe. The salad is made with chopped red and Golden apples, cooked and diced potatoes, chopped hard-boiled eggs, cooked diced ham, chopped pickles, typically dressed with oil, vinegar and mayonnaise. The ingredients are mixed and served on lettuce leaves. The salad might be garnished with pickled vegetables or chutney if desired. Occasionally, other ingredients such as blue cheese dressing or buttermilk dressing might be used.
