Fasolada (Φασολάδα), called "national food of the Greeks", is soup of dry white beans, olive oil, and vegetables (carrots, onion, parsley, celery, and bay leaf). This soup can be encountered in other cuisines as well, including Egyptian and Turkish, with minor variations in contents.
This soup does not contain any meat, however it is often enriched with olive oil, during or after cooking.
Fasolada is a very popular soup and like some other dishes in Greece is eaten with fresh bread and olives.
