Florentine with raisins, almonds and glacé cherries

Florentines is one of the most luxurious dessert found in Florence. They are oftenly offered as a gift to dear ones on special occasions like Christmas.

These cookies have a lace like texture, crispy consistency and a golden colour.

The recipe usually includes the following ingredients: flour, sugar, butter, honey, orange zest, whipping cream, candy peel, chocolate flakes, sliced almonds and glacé cherries. All the ingredients are mixed together and the formed cookies are baked in the oven for fifteen minutes. The ready florentines are buttered with melted chocolate and placed on top of each other. The unusual quality of these cookies is that the longer they stay, the better they get.

The dessert is perfect to serve with a cup of coffee or tea.
