Fried chicken steak is one of the most popular street foods in Taipei, widely sold at Shihlin Night Market at a very cheap price. The locals usually like it in jumbo sizes, a big loaf of meat which is crispy, crunchy and juicy, wrapped in a paper bag. The chicken breast is the best part of meat used for this dish, which is first marinated in a mixture of soy sauce, rice wine, ginger slices and five powder spices, then it is coated in corn flour and deep fried in sesame oil. As a result, the meat texture is very tender and juicy, while the outer skin is crunchy; the combination of these two textures make a very delicious snack. It is served in paper bags or on plates, accompanied with a variety of sauces like terriyaki, honey-mustard, pesto, sweet and sour chili and many other.
