Ji Rou Fan
Ji Rou Fan literally translated as Chicken rice, is a common dish in Taipei and in the whole country of Taiwan. This is a simple meal consisting of rice and chicken meat, quite frequently substituted by turkey meat. The preparation is not difficult either, as the meat is boiled first, and then in the resulting broth the rice is being cooked. Additional flavor ingredients like pickled radish, soy-poached radish, bamboo shoots and chitterlings are used to enrich the taste and structure of the dish. It is served in a bowl or flat plate where rice is arranged first, with chicken or turkey meat torn by hand on the top. Snack streets and night markets are the perfect places where one can easily find Ji Rou Fan; Taipei Shih-lin Night market is just an ideal choice.
