Konijn Met Bier

Konijn Met Bier (Rabbit in Beer) is one of the most distinctive and famous Belgian dishes. This dish is usually made with original Belgian beer Kriek, which gives delicious cherry flavor. The rabbit is brown in small amount of fat and is sprinkled with sugar. Then onion, carrots, apple, smoked bacon, water, beer, salt, thyme, and bay leaf are added and simmered until the rabbit is tender. Mustard is spread on a large slice of bread, where rabbit pieces will be layered. Konijn Met Bier is traditionally eaten with fries and applesauce.
