Kueh Pie Tee is a famous Peranakan dish widely consumed in countries such as Singapore and Malaysia. Kueh Pie Tee is a thin and crispy pastry tart shell filled with a spicy, sweet mixture of thinly sliced vegetables and prawns. Although there is a large number of recipe variations, the traditional ingredients remain almost the same. The batter for cones is prepared from flour, water, melted butter, egg, salt and pepper. The filling is dependent on the customer's preference. It may be filled with turnip cut into strips, carrots, chopped and fried beans, diced boiled egg and prawns, crushed peanuts with sauce, whatever vegetables or salad. A pie tee is served with chili sauce and garnished with coriander leaves, mashed egg and sliced chili.
