Lokma is a special dessert made for Bayrams and other religious celebrations in Turkey. Lokma (in Turkish means 'mouthful' or 'morsel') is a kind of fried-dough pastry. The luscious golden bubbles are covered with sugar syrup or honey and sweet-smelling cinnamon, which give the dessert a truly delicious taste. Lokma can also be sprinkled with sesame and goes well with a cup of tea or coffee.

There are many regional variations of the Lokma dessert which are popular in India, Pakistan, Iraq, Italy, Egypt and in Greece, where Lokma is usually spiced with cinnamon in honey and sprinkled with sugar powder.
