Mors æblekage or Mother's Apple Cake is a traditional Danish dessert. It consists of the thick apple sauce, crumbs, almonds, sherry wine, butter, sugar and whipped cream. This cake can be served warm or cold, with whipped cream or creme fraiche. Mors æblekage has a mesmerizing flavour of apples combined with aroma of almonds and sherry wine. It usually has a round shape with a golden brown crust or sprinkled with icing sugar on the surface. The taste is generally sweet and a bit sour because of the apples.
