Pinni is a common sweet dish in North India and the Punjab region, also known as pindi. It is made of wheat flour, ghee or butter and sugar, used in equal quantities.
Other ingredients for pinni are milk and cardamom powder. Some recipes tend to add khayo in the flour is order to enhance the flavor of the dish. Dry fruits and chopped nuts, such as almonds, pistachios, walnuts or raisins can also be added.
This sweet dish is usually shaped like balls. Pinni are covered with crushed cardamom and preferably served hot with tea or hot milk.
