Pork Joint Stewed with Rock Sugar (Bintang Zhouzi, 冰糖肘子) is a traditional Beijing dish. Its main ingredient is steamed and boiled pork joint, marinated in a sauce made of rock sugar, soy sauce, ginger, and cooking wine. The cooked pork joint shows a red colored skin and tender meat, and tastes a bit sweet. The texture of the marinated sauce feels like thick honey. It is believed that this dish increases the skin’s elasticity and is also good for facial care.
