The ingredients of the Portuguese bean soup are Portuguese sausages, ham hocks, potatoes, onions, carrots, tomatoes, cabbage, kidney beans, garbanzo beans (chickpeas), garlic, celery, cilantro, parsley, bay leaves, cloves and broth. Sometimes Portuguese bean soup is done with macaroni too. The ingredients are boiled in a specific order.
