Rollmops are pickled herring fillets rolled with slices of onion and green olives. They look like cylinders. Rollmops are pierced with wooden sticks that keep them in the round shape. Rollmops are sold in any supermarket ready to consume in jars or cans. They are kept in marinade with white vinegar, mustard and other condiments. Rollmops are delicious both as they are or on bread.
Rollmops are found in Dutch, English, Scottish, German, Estonian, Latvian, Scandinavian, Czech, Slovak, Polish, Brazilian, and South African cuisine, among others.
