Schiacciata con l’uva with rosemary sprig

Schiacciata con l’uva, known otherwise as Focaccia with grapes, is a traditional rustic pie cooked in honor of the autumn harvest in Italy.

The dough for the pie is made of flour, lukewarm water or white wine, honey, dry yeast, lard, salt and red wine grapes (with seeds). If desired, the recipe can be enriched with rosemary leaves, chopped walnuts and anise seeds. Washed and drained grapes are "sealed" inside of the dough and the pie is placed in the oven for about one hour.

The juicy Schiacciata con l’uva is served with a glass of Chianti or any other red wine.
