Slemp is an old fashioned drink from the Netherlands. This hot milk drink is a wonderful choice for a cold day. The spices commonly used to make Slemp are: tea, cinnamon stick, saffron, cloves, mace. The liquid is made with milk, grated peel lemon, sugar and salt. All the spices are put in a thin piece of cloth and left in warm milk for about two hours; sugar is added then. Finally, the obtained mixture is brought to a boil and simmered for a few minutes. This spicy and creamy drink is served hot.
