Smoked salmon is a preparation of salmon, typically a fillet that has been cured and then hot or cold smoked. Due to its moderately high price, smoked salmon is considered a delicacy. Irish traditional smoked salmon is hot smoked and usually on oak, it has a dark orange color and a firm texture. Smoked salmon may be eaten by itself or mixed with salads or pasta or other ingredients. It can be served as an appetizer or as a side dish and it can be served during any meal of the day.
