Spicy Tofu Stir Fry is a popular dish in Chicago and has tofu as a main ingredient. Tofu or also known as bean curd is a food made by coagulating soy milk and then pressing the resulting curds into soft white blocks. It is part of East Asian and Southeast Asian cuisine such as Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Indonesian, Vietnamese. There are many different varieties of tofu, including fresh tofu and tofu that has been processed in some way. Tofu has a subtle flavor and can be used in savory and sweet dishes. It is often seasoned or marinated to suit the dish.

The preparation of Spicy Tofu Stir Fry implies cutting the tofu into cubes and marinate it with a lot of spices, then cook it in a wok along with the other ingredients, most often meat and vegetables. There are variations of the Spicy Tofu Stir Fry, depending on the vegetables and meat used when cooking it. Due to the use of tofu which has a low calorie count, relatively large amounts of protein, and little fat, this dish may often be found on various menus, namely in the vegetarian section. It is high in iron and, depending on the coagulant used in manufacturing, may also be high in calcium and magnesium. This dish is usually served with rice or noodles.
