Staropramen ("Staro" meaning "old", "pramen" meaning "spring" in Czech) is a "ležák" or premium beer lager of 12 degrees Plato or 5% abv. with bright pale gold color, which is undoubtedly the pride and free spirit of Prague. Considered also "Star of Prague", it is a beverage that has been brewed according to special recipes which include natural Czech ingredients such as Bohemian barley and Saatzer hops. The beer features a characteristic full-bodied aroma and a bitter taste that beer lovers won't forget. It has been brewed as a lager since 1869 and today is exported to 30 countries across the globe.

The unique lager is a product of the Staropramen Brewer, the second largest brewery in the Czech Republic, situated in the Smíchov district of Prague. It was founded in 1869 and the brand name Staropramen was registered in 1911. The brewery has seen a steady growth and is currently the Czech Republic's second largest beer producer with a 15.3 % share of the domestic market.
