Töltött paprika

Töltött paprika is Hungarian for stuffed peppers. Though the tradition for stuffing vegetables comes from the Turks, nowadays stuffed peppers have become an authentic dish in Hungary, as well as in other countries.

In Hungary, töltött paprika have the following ingredients: peppers, ground pork, rice, tomatoes, sugar, salt, sour cream, fat and flour.

The dish is more preferred at the end of the summer when there are more peppers and tomatoes. Töltött paprika is usually cooked in a pot, it being very tasty when served hot with sour cream. The flavor of this dish depends on the spices added in the meat and the rice.

Töltött paprika is also popular in India, Mexico, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia, Serbia, Slovenia, Romania and the United States.
