Töltött tojás (Deviled Eggs)

Töltött tojás or Deviled eggs are hard-boiled eggs cut in half and filled with the hard-boiled egg's yolk mixed usually with mayonnaise and mustard. The term "deviled" dates back to the 19th century, referring to the use of particularly hot spices in cooking. Deviled eggs are usually served cold.

The deviled eggs originated in ancient Rome according to the show "The Secret Life Of...", being widely consumed in Europe and USA, especially in such countries as Hungary, France and Germany.

Among the ingredients are hard-cooked eggs, light mayonnaise or salad dressing, dry ground mustard, white vinegar, salt, pepper and paprika. Other common flavorings include: diced pickle or pickle relish, powdered cayenne pepper or chipotle chilies, vinegar, green olives, pimentos, poppy-seed, and minced onion.
