Verwurrelt Gedanken is a typical Luxembourgian pastry, served during the carnival season. The classical recipe for this carnival pastry includes flour, eggs, butter, milk, bicarbonate of soda, salt, sugar, which are thoroughly mixed with grated lemon peel. The dough is prepared and put aside for an hour or so, then rolled and cut into thin stripes. The stripe may be braided or made knots, then deep fried for about 3 minutes until golden brown. Then drained of excess oil and sprinkled with sugar icing. The dessert is crispy and sweet, making it a popular dish among children.
