Wurstsemmel is a roll filled, usually, with Extrawurst - a special kind of thinly sliced sausage Austria is famous for. It is moist, light coloured, fine textured and made from a well-spiced mixture of beef, pork and bacon fat. Wurstsemmel is traditionally made with battered bread, and you can also try it with sliced boiled eggs, cheese and a pickle or cornichon. Different sauces, such as ketchup, mayonnaise or Worcestershire sauce, are optional and are added according to consumer's taste. Locals and tourists can get the rolls at a Butcher or at the delicatessen counter in a supermarket.
